Think of it more as a cordless office or home phone.īut since it is ultimately just another audio interface, you can also use it with other applications that take advantage of microphone input - like iChat. Since the phone works as another audio interface for your Mac, you canit take the it out of range of your computer and still expect it to work, so donit think you can use it as a replacement for your cell phone. The greater the distance from your Mac, the weaker the signal, but I found the audio quality to be acceptable even when I was two floors away from my PowerBook. I found that I could walk away from my PowerBook - on my desk on the third floor at the TMO central tower - and still use the phone on the first floor.
The wireless range is surprisingly good, too. Thatis actually saying a lot, considering I was expecting tin-can-and-string audio quality. I wonit be retiring the mics I use for podcasting in favor of Keyspanis phone, but I am totally comfortable using it for daily conversations. The audio quality is acceptable for a cordless phone, but not good enough for quality recording. Skype automatically selects the phone for you.
